Murals
See You Next Time Salon - Current mural project in progress. Minor details and finishing touches to be added. Planned to be done beginning of February.
Beaumont Art Studios - Small scale, simplified mural. This mural was meant to be finished quickly in one evening as part performance for their annual Halloween Party.
Dream mural concept - A mural that I would love to create would fuse art and technology. By adding augmented reality to my mural, it would invite people to engage with the art. To see examples of me adding augmented reality to my work, see the section below titled “Augmented Reality”.
Tales from the forest
This art installation was created for the Vancouver Opera's "Fairy Tales and Fables Festival", showing at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre and The Vancouver Playhouse in the spring of 2019.
Taking inspiration from fairytales, pop-up books and animation cels, I created a setting where visitors were able to enter a story. Attendees stepped into this art piece, placing themselves inside this fairytale world. They transported themselves into an alternate version of the forests we know. These plants and flowers are changed, mythical versions of nature that we are familiar with. They were surrounded by strings of ivy, creeping ferns, ethereal moths, clusters of mushrooms and peculiar berries. This interactive display allowed visitors to step into this mythical world and have their photo taken, proof that they traveled to this otherworldly place.
Augmented Reality
In 2022 I begun experimenting with adding augmented reality to some of my original paintings. Adding this technology to my work adds a new layer to my art and opens up a new realm. Secrets that live only in the digital world.
In my original painting “Floki” vibrant plants emerge from the painting and little glow bugs flutter as glowing particles float in the atmosphere.
In my original painting “Quiet Reflection” ghostly butterflies flutter, symbolizing transformation while the health bell flower that grows from her eye symbolizes quiet reflection.
The short videos provide a glimpse into the art pieces and how I have fused art and technology to give you a deeper glimpse into my surreal world.
Fire Followers
The exhibit "Fire Followers" aimed to give voice to forests impacted by the BC wildfires. This work was on view to the public at the Beaty Biodiversity Museum in Vancouver from fall 2020 until fall 2021.
This exhibit showed the destruction but also the great beauty that comes from wildfire. By giving a voice to the forests, the aim was to bring greater awareness of the necessity of wildfire in building a healthy forest.
The paintings include charcoal that was gathered from these forest fires in hopes that they immortalize the destroyed forests, celebrate the wildflowers that thrive off the destruction and show the beauty in the darkness.
Lightshade drink menu illustration
Drink menu designs for the cocktail bar “Lightshade” located in Yaletown, Vancouver BC. Based off their unique drink menu, these illustrations were created to capture the dark botanical but quirky vibe the bar wanted to emulate.
